IBM Cloud Technical Support Engineer - Network
As an IBM Cloud Technical Support Engineer - Network, you will be a key player in ensuring a seamless customer experience within a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for quickly identifying and resolving network issues in a global, carrier-class network. This role requires a strong understanding of network engineering principles and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will be part of the Engineering - Hardware & Networks department, contributing to the success of IBM's cloud services. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support for IBM Cloud network infrastructure, addressing customer-facing issues. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related problems, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement and maintain network solutions. Create and maintain technical documentation for network support needs. Work in shifts to provide 24/7 support. Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 2-4 years of experience working on large-scale service provider networks. Proven experience with routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF). Strong understanding of Internet protocols such as DNS, NTP, and LDAP. Experience with both Windows and Unix (Linux/FreeBSD) servers. CCNA or JNCIA certification is required. Preferred Skills / Attributes Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare, Xen, KVM). Familiarity with network hardware such as Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches, and Juniper routers. Experience with network support tools such as WireShark and TCPDump. Strong communication and soft skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers. CCNP, JNCIS or JNCIP certification.
