Field Service Engineer - Industrial Automation

Our client is a leading provider of industrial automation solutions and is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join their dedicated team. This role is critical to ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our clients' automated systems and machinery. You will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial automation equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, robotic systems, and control panels, at customer sites. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. This position requires frequent travel to client locations within the assigned region.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of industrial automation systems and equipment. Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, and drives. Conduct routine preventative maintenance and service checks to ensure system longevity and performance. Provide timely and effective technical support to customers, both remotely and on-site. Develop and deliver technical training to customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment. Create and maintain detailed service reports, including troubleshooting steps, parts used, and resolution. Collaborate with the engineering and sales teams to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during service activities. Manage spare parts inventory and service tools effectively. Respond to emergency service calls as required to minimize client downtime.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical role within industrial automation. Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and VFDs. Familiarity with robotic systems (e.g., KUKA, ABB, Fanuc) and motion control is highly desirable. Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, and industrial networking. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment. Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory and occasionally beyond. A valid driver's license is required.
